Born in London in 1912 he entered both the Royal Academyand Royal College of Music at an early age, and studied under Kalman Ronay and Maurice Sons for the Violin and with Frank Bridge for composition.Subsequently he obtained scholarships for study in Siena (Italy) and Santiago de Compostela (Portugal)where his teachers included well known soloists and composers.

As a violinist he had a distinguished career both as solo recitalist, in chamber music and asmember and leader of prominent symphony orchestras in different countries. LPO, LSO) in Great Britainand similar ensembles in South Africa and Argentina.

His numerous compositions range in style from melodious “tonal” pieces to more modern atonal works and are for solo instruments (especially his own(, chamber ensembles, and symphony orchestra.

Numerous performances throughout the world
have ensured that many of his compositions have become part of the standard
repertoire.
