For Volume 9 we return to our roots, all the items used being from the Apollo Sound Archives. Our very popular first selection ASCD 206 started this long running series back in 1997 and since then, due to the dedication of Heinz Herschmann in releasing as much of this type of music as possible and making it available to all, the series and interest in these high calibre compositions has gone from strength to strength.

Where possible our first item is always a starter track and Melancholic Rock, from the pen of Jan Ptaszyn-Wroblewski, is no exception . David has been a much requested inclusion and here once again you can enjoy the Big Band Samba beat courtesy of Maylin, De Vere and Rosen. After Disco Girl, which speaks for itself as performed by the Budapest Radio Orchestra, we return to Joze Privsek and his Music for a rousing Big Band number featuring soprano sax, of which you can only say Its Incredible.

The unmistakable sound of The Polish Radio Orchestra brings us Today Is The Day, by Jerzy Jarosik complete with scat vocal and exciting wind and percussion sections. The beautiful Ilona with its sweeping strings composed by Richard Frank and Andrew Berg contrasts dramatically with the frantic pace of Firewheel from Rudolf Tomsits and The Budapest Radio Orchestra. Simon Gale and his Orchestra make a welcome return to our series with the compositions Talk To Me and Say it No More with that crystal clear sound and featuring the organ. Our selection finishes with The Polish Radio Orchestra and Sunny Alley bringing us to the gentle and melodic end of a journey of re-discovery, featuring the never ending talents of some of the finest composers in Europe.
